2009 beckons
|
|
In one of those contemplative moods, I questioned myself wad really is the big deal of the new year.
A yr older, yes.
And was telling the friends, that I'd be a quarter of a century. So really, what's my life all abt right now?
1)For starters, I've gotta kick-ass job, one I really love that pays me decent shit. Nice colleagues. And I just can't wait for the opportunities that would be presented in 2009.
2) Blessed I am with a great group of close friends that I surely don't take for granted and often seek refuge in, when need be. And well, they invite me with open arms everytime and anytime (U all had better). You all know who you are. Thank you once again, for being there yet another yr.
3) The family is great as always.
4) A passion I have for cooking and in particular baking. So I credit myself for getting my ass up on off days, whipping up new delights. It's so therapeutic, it actually calms my nerves. I made a mental note that I'd be more experimental in the kitchen in 2008, and I would like to think that I sorta achieved that. Well, I've still yet to prepare a 5-course meal for the ultimate critic. But then again I have my whole life ahead to prepare that for you.
5) Books-When you step into the corporate world, and especially in my vocation, all you delve in is really, news, news and More news. So the last thing you wanna hold on to when you get home is some reading material.
But No. Another deal I made with the self was that I would only read quality novels. It's my form of escapism and I'm so chuffed I derived ultimate pleasure in the 20-over books I grabbed this yr.
6) The travels. I usually don't go raving mad bout it and FB it immediately, but all of it was blissful. Oh and they weren't all villas, cos in the vimtionary, they were sanctuaries.
One might think, that's just a normal life. But, I like normal. And true contentment lies within yourself.
I've come across some, who think that shitloads of money/ having a big-breasted girl or a guy with a huge kukuchiaow/ having wealthy friends or partners/ living in a huge bungalow are the only valid reasons to make them happy. That's depressing. I pity them.
Of course if I strike the $2m toto draw, I'm not going to be a stupid cb and be sad and all. What I'm really trying to get at is, yes money makes the world go around, but never let that clamp your happiness. Cos ultimately, true happiness lies in your own very hands. Don't screw it up.
And as for superficiality, we just have to live with it in this day and age, but there's no necessity to conform. Be true to yourself.
I suddenly feel like Buddha.
Ok switch mode:, I can't wait for Armin Van Buuren. It's gonna be insane. Also, I'm so happy I ushered in the New Yr on a frrrreaking HIGH note (pun intended) with the loved ones =)
Kevin Tan, if you're reading this, I really do want to catch up with you soonish. Before Budget Day tho. U can imagine how crazy it wld get. Happy New Yr, from your one and only anjali. =).
Aniwei Happy New Yr to all of you who read my blog. Thanks for all your hate mail and positive feedback. I appreciate both, really. =)
xoxo
Love to those near and dear
