"My Blueberry Nights"
2007 film directed by Wong Kar-Wai, the first Chinese to win the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
And it should come as no wonder.
Such a masterpiece. Such brilliance. Such a wonderful piece of art I've yet to witness in many many years.
A love story it is, a woman (Norah Jones) does some soul-searching and surely takes her time to find the right soulmate for yourself. But believe you me, I don't simply dig any romantic movie so that explains why I'm not the typical fan of much-famed Notebook.
"My Blueberry Nights" is really the kind of movie that wants you to savour every second of not just the plot, but the powerful characters with depth, the implications of every scene which is craftfully shot, the backgrounds, the score, the colours and the deliciously succulent taste and sight of the plain-jane-looking blueberry pie.
Not the kind of movie you'll sit on your couch and repeatedly watch on DVD/HBO/STAR like the Bad Boys series, Dark Knight or Ghostbusters.
A one-time viewing is sufficient to leave a pleasant aftertaste and enjoy that fuzzy feeling of the big L.
Critics downed it. But then again, who are but these ppl to judge the brilliance of Any movie. Afterall, to each its own and do you really believe what I say sometimes?
This brings me to another point.
My sis once asked me:
"Vim, if your die...what would you miss most?"
In my reply
"I would regret not having read all the best works of fictional novels."
May I add....
"I would also regret not having witnessed all the best works of brilliant movies."
So...have you indulged in your pleasures recently? Everything's gloomy, but there's no stopping from keeping yourself happy - within your means that is.
That movie may have been released in 2007. I may have been tad bit late. But what the heck, it's better late than Never.
P.S- You're making me watch too many movies. You're a bad influence. I love it.love it...
xoxo
Love to those near and dear
Vimster
